Multi religious ceremonies held in view of Army anniversary
A series of multi-religious ceremonies were conducted
by the Sri Lanka Army in view of its 68th anniversary which falls on
10th October. According to Army media, following the inaugural religious
ceremony at the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth) in Kandy on 28th
September, a series of multi-religious blessing ceremonies were
conducted in Colombo with the participation of Commander of the Army,
Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.
Following the main ceremony in Kandy, the second main
religious flag blessing ceremony was held at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in
Anuradhapura on Monday (02nd October).
An 'Abishekam Pooja ceremony organized by the Sri
Lanka Army Hindu Association was held at the Sri Ponnambalam Vaneshwarar
Kovil in Kotahena, Colombo 13, on Wednesday (04th October).
The Army Muslim Association held the Islamic religious
observances at the Colpetty Jumma Masjidh in Colombo 3, on the same day
A special Christian Service had been organized by the
Army Christian Association at the All Saints' Church in Borella, Colombo
8, on Tuesday (03rd).
The blessings ceremonies were conducted in keeping
traditions and customs of the respective religions by members of the
clergy. A large number of Army officers, other ranks and their family
members were present at these ceremonies.
