Cooperation Afloat Readiness & Training (CARAT) Exercise concluded
The 23rd Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training
(CARAT) Exercise - 2017 conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy and the US
Pacific Fleet concluded successfully on Friday (06th October) in
Trincomalee, states Navy media.
The five day naval Exercise began on Monday (02nd
October). The Exercise mainly focused on improving maritime security
skills and operational readiness. The small boat operations, evidence
collection, diving procedures, anti-terrorism security operations and
strengthening relationships between military participants through
community development projects, sports, and social events were also
included in the CARAT Exercise.
Inaugurated in 1995, CARAT is a premier naval
engagement which addresses shared maritime security priorities, enhances
interoperability among participating forces and develops sustained naval
partnership with nations across South and Southeast Asia.
